Margarita Rivera

January 11, 1944 — December 27, 2024

Margarita "Margie" Rivera, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her residence Friday, December 27, 2024. Born on January 11, 1944, Bronx, NY, to loving parents, Jose, and Rosa Garcia. She met and married her high school sweetheart - the love of her life, Jose Rivera, in 1963 and had two children, Rose-Margaret and Joseph. They later moved and built a life in Albuquerque over the course of 40+ years. Her career as Secretary for the State of New Mexico 2nd Judicial District Court Juvenile Justice Center brought her great joy in her service contribution to the community.

She will be remembered as an extraordinary wife and life partner of 63 years, a loving nurturing mother, and adored grandmother (Yaya), loved and remembered by her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her friends were many, those dearest and closest to her heart became chosen family.

A proud Puerto Rican, she spread the love of her culture through preparing delicious dishes for her loved ones. Her humor, generosity, and beauty will be forever missed, but we will always feel her presence in our hearts.

Margarita is preceded in death by her parents, Jose, and Rosa Garcia; brother, Joey DeLeon, George (Pop) and Margot Rivera. She is survived by her children; daughter, Rose-Margaret and husband Andre Grant; son, Joseph and wife Kimberly Rivera; five granddaughters, Nicole and husband Alex Harris; Jacquelyn Lucero; Brittney and husband Daniel Kim; Samantha Rivera and husband Eric Valdez; Victoria and husband Stephen O'Daniel; twelve great-grandchildren; Ke'Andre, Marley, Tyler, Bentley, Allan, Jhene', Jordynn, Dwayne, Walter-James, Adalynn, Zachary, and Xavier; and many loving nieces and nephews.
