Margarita Hernandez

Margarita Hernandez, age 70, of Rio Rancho, went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2019, while surrounded by her family in her home.

Margarita was born on May 9, 1948, in Ponce, PR to Gilberto and Juanita Gordils. She married John Hernandez in 1973. She was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, beloved sister and dear friend who displayed unselfishness, generosity, and helpfulness to those around her. She always made time and thought of others before herself. An avid seamstress who made anything from bridesmaid’s dresses and pajamas to split skirts; she especially loved making clothes for her grandchildren. One of her favorite things to do was cook for all those she loved around her. We will always remember the delicious food that she made with so much love.

Margarita, an active member at Mesa Baptist Church, was a faithful servant of God. She shared her faith in the Lord Jesus with those around her and lead people to Christ. A prayer warrior who made it her mission to lift those around her in prayer to the Lord on a daily basis.

Margarita is survived by her children; Desiree, Camille and husband, James, Jonathan and wife, Stephanie, Samantha and husband, Benjamin; Grandchildren; Demetrius, Jasmine, Elizabeth, Abigail, Rose, Jonathan Jr., Selena, Samuel, Bo, Sophia, Jacob, Sylvannah, and Alyvia. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hernandez.

She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 between 6:30-8 p.m. at FRENCH - WESTSIDE.  A Homegoing Service will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at Mesa Baptist Church located at 1411 Golf Course Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124 with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
