Margarette Stevens

94, a resident of Albuquerque, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. She was born on November 10, 1918, in Pratt, KS, and was predeceased by her husband, William T. Stevens. She is survived by her sister, Leola Edgar of Battle Mountain, NV; three children, Thomas Mason of Apple Valley, CA, David Stevens of Key West, FL, and Jo Sanborn and husband, Sandy of Poway, CA; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Margarette graduated from Wichita Business College in Wichita, KS and moved to Albuquerque with her family in 1936. She worked as a secretary for the Soil Conservation Service in Albuquerque and at the Mexucah Springs Experiment Station, where she lived in a Hogan on the Navajo Reservation. She then spent four years working in California. She returned and worked as a legal secretary for 35 years for the firm of Hannett, Hannett and Cornish. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH - University. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Friends may visit FRENCH - University, Friday, October 4, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity or the Missions Fund at CrossRoads Church of Albuquerque, 5200 Marble Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
