Margaret Jean “Peg” Tool, 84, of Rio Rancho, NM died Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
A celebration of life will be held at Community of Joy Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Paul Schick as the Celebrant. A luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the church after the celebration. Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque following the luncheon.
Peg was born on April 30, 1940 in Oak Park, IL, the daughter of Burdell and Helen (Scheyli) Miller. She grew up in Elmwood Park, IL where she attended John Mills Elementary School and then the newly opened Elmwood Park High School. She was united in marriage to Richard Tool on October 9, 1965.
She loved her family fiercely and made friends easily throughout her life. She had a deep appreciation and affinity for all music and types of dances. Peg especially enjoyed square dancing as a family activity and sang in a Sweet Adeline acapella group. She happily balanced her roles as a mother, working woman, and volunteer. She gave her time to be a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader and spent many years teaching Sunday School at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mundelein, IL. She laughed easily and often, while always sharing a smile. She enjoyed being mischievous at times and was quick to take an opposing view in a loving way. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, attending stage performances, traveling, watching sports, and playing the piano.
Peg found great comfort through her Lutheran Faith. She spent the majority of her life in long-term church engagements where she aligned herself with others that also loved the Lord. She drew on this deep faith throughout the trials she faced.
Surviving is her husband, Richard; two daughters, Tracy (Mark) Rhomberg of Grayslake, IL and Debi Hendricks of Rio Rancho, NM; and two grandchildren, Melissa and Holden Rhomberg. She is further survived by her twin sister Marilyn (Garrett) Ducar of West Des Moines, IA; and a niece and nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burdell and Helen Miller; as well as her step-father, Bill Allen.
