Margaret Nell Mozey

Margaret Nell Mozey was born on October 20, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and passed away on November 3, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Margaret was the youngest of five children born to Etta and Fred Thompson. In 1944 she married the love of her life, Dwayne Mozey, and in 1954 moved to Albuquerque where they lived for the rest of their lives. Margaret was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church and worked for over 20 years as a kindergarten teaching aide. She was an active and longtime volunteer at the Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital, donating her time for 38 years. She loved people and made many lasting friendships. Margaret and Dwayne were avid and talented ballroom dancers. They also loved spending time in the mountain home they built near Angel Fire, New Mexico.

Margaret was predeceased by Dwayne, her husband of 70 years; their son David; and all her four siblings. She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Johnson and husband Tom, of Albuquerque and Marcia Garcia and husband Robert of Napa Valley, California; her granddaughters Sarah Garcia of Alexandria, Virginia and Melissa Mozey of Reno, Nevada.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Margaret’s Ambercare Hospice team; Yvette, Ashley, Martha, Tanya, Debra Sue, Laurie and Dr. Camila Tapia. Special thanks to Crystal and Stephanie of Visiting Angels. These individuals supported Margaret with care and love during her last months. Finally, thanks to the staff and caregivers of the Village at Alameda. We are grateful for the kindness and the compassion shown to our mother and to us.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Village at Alameda, 8810 Horizon Blvd. NE.
