Margaret Milligan, 79, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Margaret was born on October 9, 1945, in Ray, AZ to Catherine and John McKay.
She spent over 4 decades of her life educating Albuquerque children at several local schools. She spent most of that career at Dolores Gonzales Elementary, a school that she loved with all of her heart. Through her passion for reading and teaching, countless kids grew from her wisdom. She always loved watching them accomplish their goals and dreams.
She will be forever remembered as someone that cared deeply for her many friends and huge family. She was the glue that brought them all together on countless occasions. You could frequently see her jogging around town or hiking on trails throughout New Mexico. She would tell you that her greatest accomplishments were all of the many moments in time that she got to spend with her grandkids. They meant everything to her, and she meant everything to them.
Margaret is survived by sons Michael and Matthew Milligan, granddaughters Olivia and Aislynn Milligan; grandsons William and Easton Milligan, brother Tom McKay, sister-in-law Helen McKay, daughter-in-law Emily Milligan, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Douglas Milligan, mother Catherine Glover, father John McKay, and stepfather Larry Glover.
