The matriarch of the Marsh family was lifted by Angels to her new home in Heaven. Margaret "Peggy" Marsh, unexpectedly began her new life on February 29, 2016. A devout Catholic born in Gallup, NM, she graduated high school from Sacred Heart Cathedral, drove construction trucks for her dad and worked at Fort Wingate driving "fly boys" to and from Gallup's airport.
She met her husband Albert Marsh in Gallup and they married upon his return from the Air Force during the Korean War. In the late 1960's with five children, and more on the way, they moved to Grants, NM to own and operate a motel on Route 66. Together they worked and continued to raise their growing family. She loved cooking and baking. From the street you would smell the aroma from her kitchen. She always had a meal ready for the unexpected visitor. She served you until your tummy was full, then served you more. She also loved fishing at Bluewater Lake and traveling the country in their 1968 motorhome. She enjoyed her membership to the PEO chapter U and for years volunteered at St. Teresa cooking spaghetti, or beans, for their special events.
She was preceded to heaven by her father, Tulio DePauli; her mother, Helen Schmaltz-Depauli; and her husband, Albert Marsh Jr, two of her sons Albert III and Gregory, brothers and sisters Ed, Maryann, Barbara and John Depauli. Peggy is survived by her sister, Eileen Adcock; her son, Vince and wife, Gail; daughter, Monica and husband, Lance; daughter, Shelly and husband, John; son, Guy and his daughters, Annie and Lily; and her son, Gary and his wife, Nicole.
At age 84 she had 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and could name them all: Gregory, Adam, Vince Jr., Kari, Christopher, Amanda, Alisha, Erik, Elizabeth, John Jr., Jake, Mary Kate, Maggie, Annie, Lily, Dylan, Spencer and Melanie; William, Amelia, Elliot, Adam, Nathan, Amelia Margaret, Noah, Thai, Ryan, Alyssa, Caylee, Rebekah, Melody, Hannah, Ella James, Miller, Piper, Sawyer, Townes, Harmon, Alyson, Natalie, Austin, Morgan, Nicholas, Laurie Ann, Aria, Brady, Tess, Madelynn and one on the way. She had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, brother and sisters-in-law and friends who were very close in her life too.
Through it all, Peggy had always said that her favorite part about living in Grants, and the reason she stayed, is her great friends she has there.
The Rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:25 a.m., at St. Teresa Church in Grants, NM. A Reception at the Knights of Columbus will follow.
