Margaret Rose Langford
Margaret Langford died Sunday, April 25, of complications from a fall and Alzheimer disease. Margaret was born on July 14, 1939, to Otto Bernard and Emily Siegmund in Gainesville, Texas. She had eight brothers and sisters most of whom still reside in the same general area of Texas. Margaret was reunited with her husband who passed in 1995. She was interred with Lt. Col Albert Langford in the Santa Fe National Cemetery on May 4, 2021. No Services will be held.
Margaret was always interested in new ideas, distant horizons, and what the world was like out there, beyond the confines of rural Texas. She volunteered to work in Germany with the US Civil Service at Ramstein Air Base as an administrative professional in the 17th Air Force Headquarters command structure. There she met Lt. Col Albert Langford, her future husband. They married in Basel, Switzerland on August 30, 1974. Margaret and Albert traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Following Albert's retirement from the Air Force he became a stockbroker and later returned to college to earn a Computer Science degree from Northern Arizona University where he was recruited to join Sandia National Laboratories.
Margaret and Albert attended United Methodist church's and she was a long-time volunteer at St. Stevens in Albuquerque. She joined other churches and contributed generously to their support. She was actively involved in CCF- Christ Commission Fellowship and bible study and maintained a strong relationship with God. She had no children but several adorable dogs that she pampered.
Following Albert's passing in 1995 from cancer, Margaret resided in their beautiful home in the Academy Hills neighborhood. She was known by many friends as a constant walker. She maintained her home and investment and her darling dogs.
Margaret's final companion was Ed Gullick whom she deeply loved and shared many interests with. One interest was travel. They cruised the Pacific and Caribbean, traveled to Hawaii, Central America, and made many good trips all over the Western States. Ed bought a new 2014 Jaguar XJL and they used it exclusively as they rolled across the West from the Pacific Ocean to Missouri River and Northern Alberta Canada to Big Bend National Park, and then again and again. They put over 50,000 miles on that car in three years seeing and enjoying the land and each other. Margaret enjoyed driving the Jaguar and continued until about 2 ½ years ago as the dementia advanced.
Margaret and Ed enjoyed 6 wonderful years together. He became her care giver with a court order that stopped her family from forcing her to be moved to Texas. She lived with Ed in his home for 1 ½ years prior to her passing.
Donations may be made in her name to the New Mexico Alzheimer's Association.
She will be always loved and always remembered.
