Margaret Ann Galassini passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, after a long illness. She was born Margaret Ann McCollum in Manhattan, Kansas on Sunday, September 27, 1942, to Mary Margaret and Sterling A. McCollum, Jr. She graduated from Luckey High School, in Manhattan, in 1960. In her senior year she was elected to be both cheerleader and homecoming queen. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1959. In 1961, she married Charles Galassini, her beloved Chuck “Moose.” Together they raised their two daughters and loved and supported each other. Their home was the gathering place and refuge for both sides of their large extended family. She was the glue for the family – the hub; her generous and caring personality radiated to everyone. Even when her health failed, her spirit and humor remained strong.
Marge worked as office manager for pediatrician Dr. David Post, for five years. In her thirties she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from UNM in 1982 with a B.S. in Nursing. She worked in the High-Risk Maternal Special Care Unit at Presbyterian Hospital for 25 years.
Marge is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles Galassini; beloved dog, Jack; daughters, Danielle Creekmore and husband, Jimmie, of Williamsburg, Virginia, Becky Coffman and husband, Richard, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Tom and wife, Sandra, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Paul and wife, Barbara, of San Antonio, Texas, Mike and wife, Sue, of San Antonio, Texas, Bob, of Spokane, Washington, Kevin and wife, Sue, of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren, James Creekmore and wife, Amanda, Kimberly Ronco and husband, A.J., Jacob Coffman and girlfriend, Ashlynn Yeagle, Chris Coffman and wife, Cerra; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Rosary will be recited Thursday, June 13, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas.
