Margaret C. Davies, 91, a resident of Albuquerque, NM and formerly of West Hartford, CT, passed away May 30, 2017. Margaret was a loving mother, grandma, great-grandma and a pioneer in the field of special education.
She dedicated her life to teaching special education for 36 years. First Ladies Pat Nixon and Betty Ford each visited her classroom.
Margaret was a Daughter of the American Revolution. She also enjoyed being a member of the West Hartford Women’s Club and Garden Club, and was a volunteer at UCONN Medical Center for more than 20 years. She loved to read, cook, and take Sunday drives.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Davies) Scott, Lynn (Davies) Dooley and Suzen Davies Light; two sons-in-law, Edwin C. Scott III and Jay Dooley; granddaughters, Jackie, Julie and Rachael, and her great-grandson, Finn. She also leaves three nieces and two nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, J. Harmon Davies.
A Memorial Service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside. Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 5600 Wyoming Blvd NE, Ste. 10, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
