Margaret Turner (Beebe) Caldes left us on Thursday, October 5, 2017,to join her husband William E. Caldes, who passed away in August of 2009. She was born in 1921 in Princeton, NJ to Orren Jack Turner and Margaret Applegate Turner. She attended Princeton schools after which she joined the Gallup Poll organization and also the Institute for Advanced Study. When her husband was drafted by the Manhattan Project and sent to Los Alamos, she followed him to New Mexico. After assigning him to Albuquerque, they bought a home in the East Mountains in Tijeras where they lived for fifty one years and raised five children. Margaret was a founding member of the Sandia Seniors, the East Mountain Book Club, the East Mountain Disciples of Christ, and charter member of the East Mountain Garden Club. She was also a former treasurer of the Bernalillo Clothing Bank. Margaret is survived by her children, Chris (Mary Lou) of Albuquerque, Kent of Albuquerque, Kathy (George) of Elizabeth, CO, Corinne of Flagstaff, AZ, and Claire of Soldotna, AK; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family Memorial.
