Marco Linda Harrington passed away peacefully, at home, on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Marco was the middle daughter born to Elmer and Bonnie Schrier on November 13, 1940, in Alamogordo, NM. The family moved to Silver City, and then to Albuquerque. Marco attended Highland High School where she met Jim Harrington. Jim and Marco quickly fell in love, and married January 2, 1957 in Bernalillo, NM. She was 17 years old and had to change the year of her birth so she and Jim could marry. Marco was the honorary house mother for Jim's fraternity, Sigma Chi, at the University of New Mexico. They had their first daughter, Linda, in 1959, and their second daughter, Cathy, in 1960. Marco received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of New Mexico, while raising 2 young daughters. She worked for APS teaching 1st and 3rd grades at Mitchell Elementary School. Marco obtained a real-estate license and she and Jim moved to Ruidoso, NM to build and sell homes. Marco was a loving and doting wife, mother, and grandmother. She had 5 grandchildren whom she was able to love and spoil in her retirement years. Marco was athletic and enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, and even barrel racing. She and Jim provided many good times for their family and friends with trips, parties, and many wonderful times at their home, and on their houseboat at Conchas Lake. Marco was a talented stain glass artist, seamstress, cook, and certified Master Gardener. Marco was very beautiful inside and out. She had a heart of gold and loved fiercely. Marco was able to live at home, with her husband Jim, being her sole caregiver, until she was injured in a fall a year ago. She went to Beehive for a few months and was well taken care of. Jim brought her back home as soon as he could. She was comfortable and happy under his loving care, Hospice, and the wonderful help of Susana Ortiz. Marco is survived by her husband, Jim Harrington; 2 daughters, Linda Harrington, Cathy Allison and son-in-law, Matt Allison; grandchildren, Bridget Poper (Jeremy), Scott Strosnider, Brian Strosnider, Drew Allison (Carrie), Shay Wacker (Todd); great-grandchildren, Ryan Poper, Parker Allison, Max Allison, Charlie Wacker, and Bailey Wacker. She is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie Paffett, and Mitsy Coulston; brothers-in-law, Geri Harrington (Pat), Gene Harrington, Chris Harrington (Sandy), Scott Harrington (Krisha); and numerous nieces and nephews. Marco was Blessed to have shared this life with her husband, the love of her life. Marco was a beautiful and gracious soul that Blessed this world. She will be remembered in joy, light, and love by all of those who knew her.
