Manuel A. Romero passed away on April 20, 2022. He was 90 years old. He was born in Estancia, NM on April 14, 1932. During his high school years, he was a basketball star for the Estancia Bears and set the State record for most points scored in one season in 1950. He then joined the Air Force and served his country for 20 years retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1971. He served during both the Vietnam and the Korean War periods. He received many medals for Meritor Service during his military career. This service was one his most prideful achievements.
He then went on to become a schoolteacher where he found his love of teaching 3rd grade students! After retirement and his extensive travels throughout Europe, the Orient, and South America he returned to his roots and repurchased the house that he was born in built by his father. He lived many happy years in Estancia where he also was able to contribute to his community by serving as an elected official for 4 years. He had great pride for the Romero legacy and spent much of his retirement hours researching & writing books documenting the Family lineage. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Cruz Romero, Juanita Jaramillo Romero; his daughter, Donna; five brothers, two sisters, and his three lovely wives, Stella, Dalphia, and Pat. He is survived by his three daughters, Linda Graham and her husband, David, Sandra Romero, and Debra Romero and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
