Manuel Levi Olivas, 89, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2015, surrounded by his wife and seven children. He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings and son-in-law, Jack Dawson. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Dolores, his butterfly. He is also survived by his seven children: Andres Olivas and wife, Verena, Manuel Olivas, Jr. and wife, Donna, Felix Olivas and wife, Gloria, Eva Marie Griego and husband, Mike, Patricia Dawson, Susie Martinez and husband, Gerard, Albert Olivas and wife, Angela; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946 on the USS Iowa and again during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952 on the USS Tawasa. He retired from the Los Alamos National Lab in 1987. Manuel and Dolores have attended and were faithful members of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Paradise Hills since living in Albuquerque. He lived in retirement in Albuquerque and loved spending time in La Jara, NM with all of his family, especially his best friend, his wife, Dolores. Hunting and fishing with his four sons were some of his favorite things to do, and just being surrounded by all of his children and grandchildren was a constant joy in his life. Let us not forget Pepie, a little Jack Russell terrier who was his best four-legged friend and constant companion. We thank our Loving Savior, Jesus Christ for this amazing man who is a devoted husband, our beloved father and loving grandpa. Though we will miss you with tears, we will remember you with much love and we will smile again. We are comforted knowing we will see you again, but until then, daddy, we will be OK. How we will miss your smiling eyes. We would like to thank the ICU team at Lovelace Westside Hospital, Heritage Hospice, especially Jessica Perez and Tami Taylor for the gentle and loving care of our beloved Dad.
