Evelyn Prentice

Evelyn Prentice died on January 8, 2024 at the age of 98.

Evelyn was born in Sagerton, Texas on May 15, 1925 to Wiley D. Hale and Alta Loper Hale. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Glenn D. Prentice and his wife, Marguerite, and Steve Prentice and his wife, Elaine. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Cassandra Prentice Shore, and her husband, Michael, and their daughters, Alexandra and Olivia, David Prentice and wife, Liz, Daniel Prentice and his wife, Sara and their children Evan and Avery, and Dr. Christopher Prentice and wife, Parya Gharibi. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Dr. Mary Fuka. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 67 years, B.G. Prentice and her beloved son, Dr. John K. Prentice.

Mrs. Prentice was an extraordinary community volunteer. She served New Mexico by contributing her time and energy to issues that primarily involved children and the beautification of her beloved state. Her decades of community service includes serving as president of Keep New Mexico Beautiful, Inc., elder at La Mesa Presbyterian church, member of the Litter Control Council of NM, legislative chair for Cosmopolitan Club, BCMC Service League, NM Federation of Women's Clubs, NM Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and President of New Mexico P.T.A. She was the recipient of the Governor's Lifetime achievement Award and the national Lady Bird Johnson Award.

A memorial service is set to take place on Thursday, January 18th at 10:00am, at French Funerals WYOMING, with burial to be followed at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30pm where she will be laid to rest with her devoted husband.
