Mack Harvey Lewis Jr. affectionately known as "Hamon" to his family and friends, transitioned on September 13, 2024, at the age of 79 in Albuquerque, NM.
He was born on March 9, 1945, in Cameron, TX, to his loving parents, Mack Harvey Lewis Sr. and Verna Lee Lewis. As a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served in the Vietnam War, Mack displayed courage and dedication throughout his life. Mack was a graduate of O.j. Thomas High School in Cameron, TX, and went on to pursue a career in carpentry and construction. He also worked at the United States Postal Service in Corpus Christi, TX, where he made meaningful contributions to his community. Mack had a passion for golf and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, showcasing his true grit and loyalty to his favorite team.
In his personal life, Mack was a devoted husband to Carmen Lewis and a loving father to his children Rosalyn Lewis, Mack Lewis lll, Dexter Lewis, Micheal Lewis and Reginald Lewis, John Stevenson, Mary Morrow, and Paula Morrow. He was proceeded in death by his wife Carmen Lewis, his parents Mack Lewis Sr, and Verna Lewis, his siblings Betty Cavil, Fredrick Lewis, Francis Kennard, Patsy Selby, Arthur Mary Lewis Margaret (Sugar) Lewis, and three sons Dexter Lewis, Micheal Lewis and Reginald Lewis.
Mack is survived by his sisters Velma Moss of Houston and Virginia Lewis of Cameron, Tx, Vanessa (Cleveland) of Houston, Tx Stephen (Angela) of Missouri City Samuel SR.(Silvia)of Killeen, Tx and has numerous Grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews & cousins. He shared a special bond with his brother in law's and confidants, Shuford Jackson and Roland Stevenson, who will deeply miss his presence.
Mack's compassionate nature extended beyond his immediate circle as he made a point to honor his fallen comrades from Vietnam by visiting their graves with a cap and a U.S. flag in remembrance. This gesture reflects his humility and the deep connections he cherished with those he served alongside. Mack Harvey Lewis Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering strength, generosity and kindness towards others. May he Rest In Peace knowing that his legacy of love and compassion lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
