On October 1, 2012, a few days shy of his 96th birthday, Lyle entered into eternal rest with his Lord Jesus. He was at home in the loving care of his wife and daughter. He was born October 11, 1916 in Boulder, CO to Perl Samuel Smith and Edna Mary Sloan Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jean Carol Gray Smith; daughter, Loretta Jean Smith McBee; and son, Lawrence Eugene Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Smith; and his sister, Marjorie Smith Morrison. Lyle was a member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher until he was no longer able. Lyle graduated from Albuquerque High School in Albuquerque. He served his country in the Navy Air Force in the Pacific during World War II. Returning from WWII, he married Jean Carol Gray on December 20, 1945. He worked in the lumber industry for most of his life retiring from Forest Products in 1984. Lyle loved Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. He was happiest when he was fishing.
