Lyla Jentzen (Moots) was a native of New Mexico, born in Clovis, NM passed away on December 21, 2017.

Lyla was the oldest of three children.  Her parents were Roy and Ioma (Jennings) Moots.  Lyla is survived by her children and their spouses,  Belinda, Jentzen (Richard Virtue), Stephen Jentzen (Svetlana), Karen Jentzen, Randal Jentzen (Leota).  She was proud to be Nana to her grandchildren, Nik Wiman, Sabrina Hopkins, Galadriel Gallegos, Christian Stewart, Rosamond Melton, Nathan Jentzen, and Rebecca Jentzen; and her great grandchildren, Sam Hopkins, Skyeler Wiman, Nina Saune, Aubrey Hopkins, Toff Stewart-Melton, Evie Wiman, Rey Stewart-Melton, and Willow Sicaard.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Art Jentzen; her parents, Roy and Ioma Moots; her sister, Rosa Lee Kampsky of Roswell; and her brother, James "Bunny" Moots of Almagordo.

She was raised and graduated high school in Vaughn, New Mexico.  Her family moved to Clovis in May 1946 where she worked for Anthony’s.  Her father worked as a telegrapher and dispatcher for the Santa Fe Railroad for forty-seven years.  She met Art Jentzen 1947.  They married June 2, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Clovis.  They were in the flying business and partners of the Clovis Airport.  They left the flying business in the early 1950s and founded Art’s Amusement and later were partners in the Aztec Bowling Alley.  Lyla was proud to be a stay at home mom raising her four children.  She was a fifteen-year member of Beta Phi Kappa, Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and held the office of president for one year.  She and Art bought a used Airstream trailer in 1975 and soon caught the travel bug and eventually spent months out of the year for over thirty years traveling all over the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia with the WBCCI Airstream Club.  She served as President of the NM Unit WBBCI one year in 1996.

Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.  The family would like to thank Legacy Hospice and especially Barbara Tubb for her kindness and loving care of our mother; and we would like to thank the caring staff  at Brookdale Senior Living in Santa Fe .
