Lydia C. Romero, age 93, of Peralta, NM, went to be with our Lord peacefully in her home Saturday, December 23, 2017. She was born July 31, 1924, in Mora County, NM to Jose and Josefita Chavez. She graduated from Menaul High School in 1942 and retired from Safeway Supermarkets after 29 years. On January 16, 1943, she married Horace Romero and they raised two daughters in Albuquerque where they made their home. They enjoyed a very long retirement together and spent time traveling, enjoying their home, and spending time with family and friends. They were life-long members of Second Presbyterian Church where they married.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Horace, of nearly 75 years; her daughters, Eileen Martin and Millie Cook; grandchildren, Jacquelyne Ward and husband, Roy, Mindy Trombley and husband, Rob, Chris Sandlin and wife, Janette, Melissa Chavez and husband, Joe Ray; along with her eight great-grandchildren, Robert, Zachary, Jenna Rae, Joshua, Chloe, Makenna, Emma, and Daniel. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gilbert E. Chavez; sister, Adalia Sanchez; and grandson, Steve Sandlin. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Lydia's life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM with Reverend Robert Woodruff officiating.
