Luther Paywa "Louie" born Saturday, January 6, 1945 had just turned 80 yrs. of age and despite his rigorous struggles with aging had managed to survive with his "Little Girlfriend" (Inez) of 59 yrs. beside him, before passing away peacfully the morning of Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

Louie was born & raised on the reservation; where as a teen he would heard sheep and pick peaches at the family orcrid afer graduation Louie moved to Lawrance, Kansas for school at Haskell Institute where he met the love of his life Inez Haskie they graduated in1965 and married Jan. 3rd 1966 just two days before Louie was enlisted and sent to the Army spending a year and a half in Germany, Louie arrived back where he exchaned his branch to Air Force in the New Mexico Air National Guard while also working at the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA): Louie was part of the 150th Fighter Group in 1995 and was awarded "The Air Force Achievment Medal" twice, louie was also appointed "The New Mexico Outstanding Service Medal" in April of 97, "The Meritorious Service Medal" in August of 97 and Finally Honorably Discharged from the Air National Guard as Technical Sergent Luther Paywa.

Louie was a wonderful brother, devoted husband, a loving father, a joyus grandfather/great-grandfather and an amazing friend he will be missed dearly. As Louie always said : "The world is round, we will get there we get there"

He is survived by his wife, Inez; his children, Tyrone, Tracy and Kevin; his 5 grandchildren, Racquel, Luella, Alexandria, Gregory and Savannah; and one great-granddaughter, Layla.

Services will be held at FRENCH- Lomas on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 9:30 am-10:30am. Louie will be laid to rest in Gallup State Veterans Cemetery later that day.
