On July 21, 2022 Luther "Mr. G" Garcia, 77, breathed his last breath on earth and his first breath in heaven. Luther beloved Husband, Father, Brother, and friend entered this world on October 20, 1944 in Albuquerque, NM, born to Eleuterio and Estella Garcia. He is survived by his spouse, Karen Garcia; daughter, Elisa (Matthew) Chavez; daughter, Elreena Garcia; brother, Larry (Marcella) Garcia; uncles, Cory and Gabriel Jaramillo; and several nieces and nephews.
Luther served in the Army during the Vietnam war and returned to to the University of New Mexico where he met his future wife, and earned his Master's in Education. He worked for Albuquerque Public Schools and was known to his numerous students as Mr. G and Coach. Luther was known to always have an interesting story to tell and especially loved telling jokes. Our family was not expecting for Luther's life to end so soon. He was a man of faith who never wavered in his belief in the Lord. While we are all devastated by this huge loss, Luther will be forever missed, we know he has gone on to a better place. He is now visiting with all our family and friends who went before him. He is camping, fishing, and enjoying the beauty of heaven. Luther will be in our thoughts and prayers every single day. We cannot put into words how much he will be missed by all the people who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.
Those we love don't go away,
they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard,
but always near,
so loved, so missed,
so very dear.
A private committal service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on September 21. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at a later date.
