Lusinda Gloria Martinez, affectionately known to all as "Lusi", peacefully passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 in her home, surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Teodoro and Froilan Martinez; brothers, Jeremias Martinez, Vences Martinez, Oliver Martines; and sisters, Ermelinda Madrid, and Zulema Acquisto. Lusi was born, raised and lived most of her life in Chimayo, New Mexico. She was a loving wife and mother who put her family first. She kept an immaculate house and was always impeccably dressed. Lusi was married to her husband Eleuterio "Luther" Martinez for 61 years, raising a close and loving family. She loved spending time with her boys, their wives, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved art and enjoyed painting, crafts and was an avid reader of books and her bible. As a young girl Lusi attended Allison-James Mission School in Santa Fe and graduated from Espanola High School. Upon graduation she began working up on the "hill" in Los Alamos, NM. She held several positions as an Executive Administrative Assistant at the Zia Company, Johnson Controls, and EG&G. After retirement from EG&G she moved to Albuquerque to be close to her three sons and their families. Lusi is survived by her husband, Eleuterio "Luther" Martinez; and her three sons, Daniel Martinez and fiancAC.e Janell Giesler, Michael Martinez and wife Deborah and Marcus "Jim" Martinez and wife Lizette. She had six beautiful grandchildren whom she was so proud of, Katie Reardon and husband Daniel of Montrose, CO, Stacey Montano and husband Joseph of Albuquerque, NM, Carmen Martinez, Sean Martinez, Alina Martinez and Emilia Martinez of Albuquerque, NM; her great-grandchildren whom she adored, Nolan Reardon, Lyla Reardon, Bryn Montano and McKynzie Montano. She had a special place in her heart for Mary Martinez of Albuquerque, NM and all her nieces, nephews and Godchildren. Lusi was preceded in death by her very good friend, Jane Martinez from Chimayo, NM and is survived by dear friends, Angie Martinez from Pojoaque, NM, Sally Roybal from San Pedro, NM, Marie Pompeo from Albuquerque, NM, and Ann Felter from Albuquerque, NM. The family would like to recognize Dana Shock and Tasha Hosack from Hospice of New Mexico for taking great care of our mother and Gloria Sinsheimer from Albuquerque, NM who always kept her spirits high. Our mother loved them and they are like family. Lusi was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave NE. Reception at Prince of Peace Catholic Church to immediately follow the Mass. Funeral procession to the Santa Fe National Cemetery will commence after the reception and interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico, 112 14th St. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 or .
