Lupe O. Chavez

Lupe O. Chavez, age 81, of Albuquerque passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Eufelia Orona; siblings, Eloy Orona, Lucy Reyes, and Toni Nieto; and father of her children, Joe R. Chavez. Lupe is survived by her children, Karyn Bernicke, and boyfriend, Gerald Trimmer, Diana Chavez, Ronald Chavez, and Laurie Chavez; grandchildren, Valerie Tafoya, and husband, Mario, Taryn and Jordyn Bernicke; great-grandchildren, Kylee and Josiah Tafoya; brother, Raymond F. Orona; and many nieces and nephews.

Lupe loved spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren. She played a huge role in the care and upbringing of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her time spent at the casinos. Lupe worked for the Bureau of Mine inspectors with the state of New Mexico and retired after 25 years.

Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. with Mass following at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW.
