Lugarda Abeyta

LUGARDA D. ABEYTAAge 92, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 in her home in Albuquerque. She is survived by her children, Marie Hochrein and her husband, Gerald, Nancy Nowicki and her husband, Fred, and Aneeda Abeyta; grandchildren Anna, Brad and wife, Yvonne, Joel, Lisa, James and wife, Suzie, and Jeff and wife, Fatima; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Joshua, Madison, Nicholas and Alexander; and sister, Carmen Chavez and her husband, Sam. Lugarda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Abeyta, Jr.; and sister, Erlinda Dow. Lugarda will be remembered as hard-working, strong, determined, smart, and spiritual with a good sense of humor and wit. She was a master gardener and a reluctant but excellent cook. She loved family gatherings, was an avid reader and always kept up with current events. Lugarda's faith in God was an integral part of her being. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at French - Wyoming Chapel. Lugarda will be laid to rest with her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family would like to thank Rudy and Steve Chavez and the entire staff at Casa de Rosa.
