Lucy Ann (nee Burtschi) Grady, 91, avid and accomplished quilter, seamstress and matriarch extraordinaire, died on June 1, 2015. Lucy was known for her prolific production of both award-winning and practical "everyday" quilts. She won multiple local and national awards for her traditional artistic quilts while she was also a faithful provider of Project Linus quilts for over 20 years. Lucy is survived by: her two daughters--Louann Grady of Albuquerque and Cheryl Grady Mercier of New Jersey; her nine grandchildren--Julia, Matthew and Meghan Mercier, Shawn (Erica), Colin (Heather) and Austin (Darcy) Grady; Kaitlyn (Kevin) Veach, Leslie McAhren, and Gillian (Kurtis) Powell. She also has nine great-grandchildren: Donovan, Drake, Joshua, Emma, Tommy, Libby Sue, Ava, J.M. and Gus. She is also survived by her two brothers-in-law-- Jack (Kathy) and Mike Grady. Lucy also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews, as well as friends and fellow quilters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, L.D., her son, J.M. and her six older Burtschi siblings. A Memorial Mass was held at St. John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge, Albuquerque, NM at 11 am on Monday, June 8, 2015.
