Lucy Mary Bartlett, 90, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Lucy was born Sunday, November 27, 1932, in Jaroso CO. She graduated from Alamosa High School and then earned her nursing diploma in 1955 from Mercy Hospital in Denver. Nursing was her passion, and Lucy was especially proud of her service as a nurse at Alamosa Hospital and as head nurse at Gallup Indian Medical Center. She was equally known for her dedication to family, her guitar- and harmonica-playing and singing, the canning of preserves, and her unshakeable Catholic faith. Lucy and Carl, her husband of fifty-five years, cultivated beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, enjoyed evening walks, and participated in the Inez Neighborhood Association. For the past seven years, she was loved and cared for by hospice and other medical staff at an assisted care facility. She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Bartlett of Lansing MI, Carol Bartlett of Albuquerque, Cheryl Bartlett of Albuquerque, and Camille Hoy (David) of Amarillo; grandchildren, Jonathon Bartlett (James) of Albuquerque, Andrea Davis (Matthew) of Gallup, Matthew Howard of Albuquerque, Michael Hoy and Nathan Hoy of Amarillo; and her great-grandchildren Talan and Payton Davis. She is also survived by her brothers, Adolph Jiron (Dorothy) of Alamosa CO, Pat Jiron (Kay) of Colorado Springs; and sister, Madeline “Biddy” Romero of Albuquerque. She leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bartlett; daughter, Charlotte Bartlett; mothers, Rosenda Arguello and Alcaria Vallejos; fathers, Frank Gallegos and Tomás Vallejos; and brothers, Philip Gallegos and Steve Arguello. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm on Thursday March 30, 2023, at FRENCH- Lomas. The Funeral mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday March 31, 2023, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish at 2621 Vermont St NE. Interment will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Center, gscnm.org.
