Lucille "Lucy" (Dupont) Taylor, age 81, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at her home in Albuquerque, NM. She was born Saturday, December 14, 1940, in Carlsbad, NM, the daughter of Louis Eugene and Naomi Claire (English) Dupont. Lucille graduated from Carlsbad High School, class of 1958. One of her favorite stories of that time was when she got to dance with a young Buddy Holly at the intermission of his concert at the local Elks Club. Following her graduation, she attended Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX, where she graduated with a BA in Education in 1962. She then moved to Albuquerque, NM to start a 39-year career with Albuquerque Public Schools. She taught english, grammar, and journalism to 6th to 9th graders at several schools all over the city and ended her career with almost two decades at Madison Middle School. During her time as a teacher, she touched the lives of over 7,000 young people. After she retired, she tried a few other jobs, but her passion was always teaching. She eventually returned to Madison to substitute teach for many years.
She was married in August of 1964 to Larry Gene Taylor and remained married until his death in 1986. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her loving in-laws, and her brothers, Raymond and John. She is survived by her daughters; Adrienne Royce, JaNelle Cordova, and Dionne Bower (and husband, Jason Bower) all of Albuquerque; and her son, Joel Taylor (and partner, Laurie Brain) of Gilbert, AZ. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Audrianna Cordova, Monica Cordova, Megin Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Carson Royce (and wife, Taylor Royce), Brady Royce (and fiancée, Elena Narro), Kayleigh Royce, Christopher John "CJ" Cordova, Taylor Wright, Isabelle Cordova, and Lucy Bower; and by four great-grandchildren, Jace Otero, Brody Andrade, Yuranni Cisneros, and Adley Royce. She leaves behind many dear friends and loved ones.
