Lucia Baca

Lucy Baca, age 64 was ushered into the presence of our Lord on March 16, 2021, while surrounded by the immeasurable love of her family.  Lucy was born in Hatch, New Mexico on December 13, 1956. She is now reunited with her Mother, Rosa Garcia, her Father, Samuel Garcia, her brothers, Johnny, Frank and Herman and her sister, Rita. She is survived by her life partner Joseph Rasmusson, her daughters, Frances Benavidez, son in law, Daniel Benavidez, and Melanie Baca. Grandchildren, Anthony, Chasity, Donovan, Richard, Jeremy, Miranda, and Daniella. She is also survived by her 2 brothers, Sam (Tarcila) and Luis (Theresa) and 4 sisters, Virginia, Elsie, Julia, and Bea (Walker) and numerous nieces and nephews.

One of her proudest roles was being a Grandma and she poured so much love into the lives of her grandchildren.  Her memory will live on in the countless traditions she engraved in their hearts.  On days when grief is overwhelming, we will cling to memories of her great kindness, contagious laugh and find comfort in her beautiful smile.  Lucy had a zeal for life that could often be captured in her love for dancing. Whether it was on the dance floor or in the kitchen, you would find her beaming with excitement as she gracefully twirled.  She is no longer suffering as she has been made new.  She is now dancing in the arms of God.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Praise and Worship Center, 3044 Isleta Blvd. SW 87105. Interment will take place on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 12 p.m. in Rincon, New Mexico.
