Lt. Col. James G. Steger, USAF (Ret.)

James G. Steger Lt. Col. USAF (retired), age 90, a dedicated husband and father, passed away, Friday, September 15th, 2017. Jim attended the College of St. Thomas and University of Chicago.  He spent one year in the regular Navy, two years in the Air Reserves, and 20 years in the Air Force.  He spent six years at the headquarters of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), and was a group leader at Los Alamos Laboratories for 13 years.

He is survived by his four children, Mary Lynne (Steger) Paoletti and husband, Michael of Maryland, Jim Steger and wife Betsy of Albuquerque, Cindy (Steger) Shields and husband Bob of Albuquerque, and Jon Steger and wife Shari of Nebraska, and 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  Jim will be remembered by his family and friends as someone who always stood up for what he believes in, even if it meant telling Generals or the President "NO!”

A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. with the Rosary to follow at 6:30 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming,  Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont NE.  Interment will take place Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
