Louis “Louie” Garcia, 88, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Dad was born in Albuquerque, NM on Sunday, March 9, 1930. He liked athletics, played football at St. Mary's High School, and was the Rio Grande boxing Champ. Dad served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and continued to serve in the Naval Reserve National Guard. Dad worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years until his retirement in 1985. Dad loved going to the horse races and watching sports and old Western movies. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Louie is survived by his loving wife of over 68 years, Frances Garcia; his children, Pat and wife, Vicki, Jerry and wife, Jenny, James, Janet and husband, Norm Becker, and Sonia and husband, Leonard Baca; grandchildren, Candice Lopez, Justin Lucero, Gary Garcia, Zachary Atencio, Natalie Garcia, Luis Atencio, Shelby Garcia, and Corey Garcia.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University, a Rosary will follow at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
