French and Clara Simmonds French of Sayre, OK; brothers-in-law, Kent Smotherman and Mack Smotherman of Erick, OK; sisters-in-law, Faye Worde of San Antonio, TX, and Doris Griffith of Rockport, TX. Louise and John grew up as childhood sweethearts in Erick, OK, and were married for 60 years. She loved life and her family. She and John insisted that there were no such thing as "in-laws" in the family and shared that philosophy with all who joined the family. She 'adopted' many of her children's friends as her own. She spent many years as an elementary school teacher first, in OK, before she had her own children, and then for many years in Roswell, NM, once her children were going to college. She kept in touch with some of her students until her death. She was a consummate homemaker who loved to cook and entertain. She loved quilting and her quilts are the most prized possessions among her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved the Lord with all her heart and enjoyed many bible studies from Community Bible Fellowship in Roswell to She Ministries in Albuquerque. Louise and John were active in many churches throughout the southwest, including Waymaker Church in Roswell, Legacy Church and Calvary both of Albuquerque. Her Service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH - Westside. Interment will follow at a later date.
