Louise Barbara (Stayduhar) Barner

June 17, 1938 — September 21, 2018

Louise Barbara Stayduhar of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, known in Lawrenceville PA as “Tiny” died peacefully at home on September 21, 2018 in Rio Rancho New Mexico. Louise is survived by her children Denise Barner of Albuquerque, James Barner and wife Jacqueline, and Mark Ackley and wife Margaret of Ft. Worth, Texas.  She also leaves behind her older sister Bernice Fusich of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and preceded by the death of her parents Frank and Victoria Stayduhar of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

Louise was born on June 17, 1938 in Pittsburgh PA to Frank and Victoria Stayduhar.  She was a first generation American of Polish and Slovenian decent.  She grew up near 52nd and Butler street where her father Frank AKA “Pancakes” was a bartender at the local bar in Lawrenceville.  Louise graduated from high school in Lawrenceville in the mid 1950’s and married James F. Barner AKA “bones” in 1962; also, of Lawrenceville.  Her life as an Air Force wife allowed for 3 children and an experience of living in Europe for many years. She spoke fluent Italian and acclimated to European life quite easily.  Louise could talk to anybody and make friends easily.  Which she usually did frequently.

At a young age she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and battled the debilitating disease for most of her adult life.  This did not stop Louise from being a loving and compassionate mother who was a good listener.  Ultimately the disease left her crippled along with the unfortunate amputation of her right arm.  Despite multiple surgery’s and degrading medical conditions she was “Lawrenceville tough” and never let it get her down.  Louise addressed issues head on with incredible mental and physical strength.  She was a spirited soul and would tell you exactly what she thought if you tried to take advantage of her kindness, or just get plain mad.  She could be deadly accurate with a shoe up to 60 feet if needed!

Her lifestyle showed her avid love for animals and everything outdoors.  She lived in mountainous but peaceful surroundings with her friend Melui Goff in Hood River Oregon for many years; along with her two dogs.  Louise loved dogs and would adopt from shelters or care for the little friends that would follow her home.  She camped in national parks all over Western America and was not afraid of adventure or exploration of these areas. Louise was a kind spirited soul that was not afraid to follow her dreams.
