Louis Flores

Louis Flores, 95, beloved father, son, brother, and husband, was called "home" to our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. He entered this world on December 13, 1927 in Albuquerque, NM, born to Luis and Carolina Flores. He is survived by daughter, Ceci Stott and husband, Pat; son, Daniel Flores and wife, Alexa; son, Robert Flores and wife, Linda; daughter-in-law, Lori Flores; and daughter, Tess Powers and husband, Tom. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Tami Stott, John Stott, Jane Flores, Lynne Treibel, Richard Archuleta, Robert Flores, Chad Flores, Stephanie Flores, Loretta Flores, Eleanor Chretin, and Emily Powers; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Eleanor; infant son, Louis Yfrene; son, Rudy Flores; grandson, Tommy Powers; and great-granddaughter, Ashley Stott.

Louis was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. He and his wife loved to polka dance and won many competitions. He taught his family to love God and family first. He always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. Louis was a varsity letterman at Albuquerque High school in football, basketball, baseball, and track & Field. He discovered his favorite sport later in life - GOLF! He had 3 hole-in-ones and shot an 81 at the age of 81. He loved to teach people how to play golf.

Louis worked 39 years at Sandia National Laboratories in Research & Development. He had many friends at the Labs where he played softball and won many horseshoe pitching tournaments. He was an amazing musician and singer who played over 35 years with the Bourguet Brothers band on his "wild" organ. In 2004, they were inducted into the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame. In his later years, he sang in the St. Bernadette Spanish Choir and served as a liturgist singing the responsorial Psalms.

A Rosary will be recited Friday, May 5, 2023, 9:30 a.m., at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11509 Indian School Rd. NE, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Entombment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Flores, Robert Flores, Pat Stott, Tom Powers, Chad Flores, John Stott, Richard Archuleta, and Robert Louis Flores.
