Louie Taylor Zimmerman passed on March 25, 2025, at 86 years old in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on January 9, 1939, in Winnsboro, Texas, to Opal Jane Powell and Louie Elton Zimmerman. Taylor was a proud graduate of the University of Texas, and The University of Texas Law School. He practiced law in the state of Texas for 42 years, primarily in the city of El Paso.
Everyone who knew Taylor both professionally or personally respected him for his powerful words, quick wit, and his love of Texas football. He was an active member of the Republican party in the state of Texas and loved to support his friends in their elections. Always up for adventure in his younger years you could find Taylor listening to live music, skiing, or even once fighting a bull in Ciudad Juarez. Taylor was also a man always seeking God and enjoyed his church community later in life. He was a loyal friend who inspired loyalty in many.
Nothing mattered more to Taylor than his family. Taylor lost his wife of 40 years, Maria del Carmen Zimmerman in 2014. He is survived by his children from his 2nd marriage Sallie: Kimberly, Paul, and John and from his third marriage with his wife Carmen: Eliza, Louie, William and Francisca Hakes. Each child along with their spouses/partners will miss the man we loved to call dad. He also adored each of his dear grandchildren Michael, Ziggy, Sienna, Juliette, Harmon Hakes, Rachel Hakes, and Callum Hakes.
Services will be held in El Paso at a later date TBA.
