Lorna Nell Thurston

Lorna Nell Thurston, age 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1944, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

She is survived by her daughters, Norma Gail Holtman (Dirk), Sandy Tipton (Gary), Tami Oelschlegel (David), and Jana Covell (Mark); ten grandchildren, Ian Holtman (Lissa), Amy Holtman, Katie Montoya (Michael), Ben Tipton (Blythe), Jessie Doyle (Josh), Danny Tipton, Jacob Covell, Jenny Covell, Sherry Reser (Pat), and Marsha Caswell (Rob); six great – grandchildren, Judah Montoya, Hudson Montoya, Andrew Reser, Maddie Reser, Sydney Reser, and Devin Griego; brother, Clayton Hudson; sister, Norma Barry (Charles); and numerous other relatives and friends. Nell, the youngest of eight children, was born in 1930 in Reserve, NM and lived there until moving to Albuquerque at the age of 14.  Nell married Lyle Thurston after a very brief courtship, and they were happily married for 43 years until Lyle’s death in 1995.

Nell was very active in Hoffmantown and Calvary Churches and was a longtime leader in Bible Study Fellowship.  She was devoted to her family and friends, but the most important relationship in her life was with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She never missed a day of reading God's Word.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, June 6, 5:00  – 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Services will be held Thursday, June 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary of Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Road NE.   Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in Nell's name to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or Uncharted Ministries, c/o Priority Living, Christian Resource Management Inc., 4740 Green River Road Ste. 217, Corona, CA 92880, checks payable to Priority Living-Uncharted, memo Josh and Jessie Doyle.
