Loretta Frances Garcia

Loretta Frances Garcia, age 58, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully, after a year long battle with cancer on Saturday, April 9, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, David M. Garcia; children, Martin Garcia and Monica Johnson and husband, Denver; grandchildren, Ethan and Audrey Johnson; parents, Ruben and Barbara Otero; siblings, Ruby Re and Dan Garcia, Raymond Otero, Viola Chavez and husband, Michael, Katy Carabajal and husband, Bobby, and Sharon Lucero and husband, Robert; sister-in-law, Dorothy Chavez and husband, Salvador; sister-in-law, Evelyn Garcia-South and husband, Dennis; brother-in-law, Louis Garcia and wife, Crista; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Loretta was preceded in death by her son, Michael David Garcia; nephew, Joshua Otero; parents-in-law, Sid and Corrine Garcia. She was born in 1958 in Albuquerque and graduated from Valley High School, Class of 1975. After graduation she attended UNM. Loretta worked at Health South Rehab Center for 20 years as a receptionist. She loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Calvary of Albuquerque for over 30 years. Loretta did missions work in Mexico and New York City and loved to donate to Joy Junction. She was a light to her family and loved spending time with her parents and family. Loretta was a very giving and selfless person, full of adventure. She loved spending time at the duck pond at UNM. Loretta was a loving wife, mother, Nani, daughter, and sister and will be missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH- Lomas. Cremation will follow and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Calvary of Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna NE. Private interment will take place at a later date at Gate of Heaven. A very special thank you to On Point Hospice and Clinical Director Brandi Barrett for their love and support.
