Loretta Young Fisher, 79, entered peacefully into His rest December 6, 2021, at her home. Born July 8, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, Loretta was the only child of Evelyn L. Holmes and William L. Young.
Loretta graduated from Ritenour High School in St. Louis, Missouri, with a 4.0 GPA, and later went on to further her education at Harris-Stowe Teacher's College, where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. She later went on to attend Saint Louis University on a full scholarship, earning a Master's Degree in Education. Her lifelong passion for learning found her pursuing college hours towards her PhD.
In the mid 1970's, Loretta married the love of her life, then Capt. Wayne T. Fisher, and the two served faithfully wherever Wayne was stationed: Wichita, Kansas; Okinawa, Japan; Hampton, Virginia; Montgomery, Alabama; Fairfield, California; Ramstein, Germany; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Loretta was predeceased by her mother, father, and husband. Surviving are her son Keith Shawn Fisher of Chicago, Illinois; daughter Kim Jenine Fisher of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son Matthew Alan Fisher of Chicago, Illinois; and a whole host of beloved cousins.
Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Those who wish to honor Loretta's life in a special manner may donate in her memory to Mercy M2 International Ministries, an organization devoted to bettering the lives of children living in poverty. Gifts can be made by visiting their web site:
