Lois Heflin Dominey, 93, passed away on July 31, 2015, at home in Corrales, New Mexico. Born in April of 1922 in Star City, Arkansas to Annette Parker Heflin and Robert Vanoy Heflin, Lois was the youngest of six children who doted on her following the death of their mother when Lois was two. Educated in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Lois joined the US Navy WAVES during WWII, serving in the Washington, DC, offices of Adm. Chester W. Nimitz. After discharge from the service, Lois met Frederick David Dominey, marrying in October, 1948, in Houston, TX. During 50 years of marriage, Lois and Fred raised three children and lived in many cities across the US, including Houston; San Francisco; Tulsa, OK; Ramsey, NJ; Austin and San Angelo, TX. They traveled the world, visiting most of the continents, and she loved to recall the many places she had seen. Lois was an avid crossword puzzler and hobbyist painter. She was especially known for her success at Contract Bridge, coveted as a partner and routinely winning into her 90's. She was preceded in death by her five siblings, husband Fred, and son David Alan Dominey. Lois is survived by daughter Kim Richey and husband Robert; son Lex Dominey and wife Kari; grandson Miles Dominey and wife Kayde, great-granddaughters Zykai and Tavia; granddaughter Lela Dominey; granddaughter Tess Dominey; David's wife Sandra Dominey, grandchildren Kevin and Megan; and adored caretaker Maria Corona. Cremation will be handled by FRENCH - University and a private memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Interment will take place in Riverside, TX.
