Lloyd Augustus Spurgeon, loving husband, father, and friend went to be with his Lord Saturday evening, March 14, 2015. Born in Hulbert, OK, August 6, 1931 to Benjamin Franklin and Jessie Pearl Hensley-Spurgeon Lloyd became a baker at the early age of thirteen working in the local bakery in Vinita, OK. He served his country in the US ARMY from 1951-1953 doing what he loved most, baking. Lloyd married Mary Elizabeth George in 1954 on Christmas Eve and Santa Claus stepped in as the best man. They had four children, Debra Ann, born in Parsons, KS, William Lloyd in Bartlesville, OK, Lena Kay in Cortez, CO, and Charles Dewayne in Albuquerque, NM. In Albuquerque, Lloyd and Mary opened their own bakery business the "Baker Boy Bakery" on Menaul in the Bel-Air shopping center, and later a branch in the North Valley on Candelaria and Twelfth Street. In 1963, Lloyd went to work for Creamland Dairies where he worked until 1974. Lloyd returned to his passion baking, when he moved to Los Alamos County where he opened "The Village Bakery" in White Rock and later opened another branch in Los Alamos "The Trinity Bakery". In 1984 he became a Technical Sales Professional for Western Bakers Products and served both in Denver and Albuquerque region including Northern Mexico. Lloyd loved to bake and did quite frequently at home. He was known at church and specifically church social events for the goodies he would bake and offer at the events. He enjoyed gardening, producing delicious tomatoes and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth George of Rio Rancho, NM; son, William and wife, Lisa Velasco of Rio Rancho; daughter, Kay Bacca and husband, Mike of Pueblo, CO; son, Charles and his wife, Christine of Rio Rancho; brother, Sylvester; and sister, Jaulice of Vinita, OK. Lloyd had 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and many other cherished family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother; father; and brother, Orville of Vinita, OK; sister, Clella Bigley of Miami, AZ; and daughter, Debra Ann Earickson of Farmington, NM. He is loved by many and will be missed for his kind, giving soul and his bright smile whenever he saw you and stated he was "Glad you got to see me." We love you Dad. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015, 1:30 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside.
