Lita Sedillo, age 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2017.
She was born in Torreon, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estanislado and Nicolasita Benavidez, and her sister, Fedelina Lujan. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Prospero Sedillo; sons, Raymond and wife, Linda, and David and wife, Bernice, of Albuquerque, NM; and her grandchildren, Melissa Sedillo of Scottsdale, AZ, Melinda Rodriguez and husband, Jose, of Albuquerque, NM, and David Sedillo, of Ontario, CA, who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her siblings, Lela Wright, Ida Chavez, Luis Benavidez, Flora Alderete (Vicente), Estanislado Benavidez Jr. (MaryAnn), Irene Zamora (Tony), Viola Lesperance (Paul), Barbara Lepori, and Magdalene Baca; and many nieces and nephews.
Lita was an exceptional cook who enjoyed making tortillas, chile, cookies and cakes for her family and friends. She also loved to dance. Lita and Prospero were regular attendees at church fiestas and senior center dances throughout Albuquerque. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish for over 50 years.
Friends may visit Sunday, April 16, 2017, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. The Rosary will be recited Monday, April 17, 2017, 10:30 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee. Interment will follow the service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Pallbearers will be Melvin Alderete, Tony Zamora Jr., Stan Benavidez, Tony Montoya, Jeff Melton and Johnny Salas. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Sedillo and Jose Rodriguez.
