Lindsey Joseph Green

January 27, 1928 — September 11, 2021

Lindsey Joseph Green, age 93, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, was welcomed into heaven the evening of Saturday, September 11, 2021. He entered this world on January 27, 1928 in Washington, D.C., born to Lindsey and Kathryn Green. Lindsey was preceded in death by his loving parents, Julianne, his wife of almost 70 years, his sister Mary Helen Cloak, and his grandson Lindsey. He is survived by his son, Sean Green (Nancy); daughter, Gaelin De Visser (Robert); and daughter, Anaclaire Hunter (Lemna). He is also grandpa to Brooke, Joel, Amica, Sydney, Ray, Julianne, Christian, Lillian and Suzanne; as well as great-grandpa to James, Eva, Viola and Scarlett; and uncle to Carole Rigg, Steve Dunphy, and John Cloak.

Lindsey moved to Albuquerque when he was 13 years old, and developed a great love for New Mexico, riding horses and exploring the mesa. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, and later was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army after graduating from UNM, and was a WWII and Korean War veteran. Lindsey led a life that was meaningful and with purpose, lifting and inspiring those that were fortunate enough to know him.

There are several worthy lessons that Lindsey imparted upon us: 1. All things in moderation except for God. 2. Pray the Rosary. 3. Be a lifelong learner. Whether it was karate, yoga, the Spanish language, the stock market, or one of his many other interests, Lindsey was always reading, stretching, and sharing knowledge until his last moment. 4. Have a sense of humor, and be able to laugh at yourself and with others. 5. Always compliment the person preparing your meal, be it a sandwich, or a full Sunday dinner. 6. Be generous with your time and your wallet.

Lindsey J. Green was an incredible man for whom volumes could be written. He was an entrepreneur at heart with business ventures that varied widely, from the manufacturing of adobe bricks, to selling church pews, owning a hamburger chain, and being a self-employed real estate appraiser for over 40 years.

People often wonder the secrets of a long and prosperous life. Lindsey unlocked those secrets many years ago and he worked on them for his entire life. He remained spiritually, mentally, and physically active until the very end. Spiritually he dedicated himself to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, attending daily mass for many years, always studying the lives and practices of various saints. Mentally he stayed active through reading, and having a continually inquisitive mind. Physically he was a practitioner of yoga, earned his black belt in his 70's, was an accomplished horseman, novice sailor, and continued to go to the gym late into his life.

Lin would occasionally remind people to pray for the recently deceased so that their time in purgatory would be shortened. We are doing the same for him, although he won.

A Rosary for Lindsey will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., FRENCH - Westside. A Mass will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM. Lindsey will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Our family is grateful to the staff at Advantage Assisted Living for their care and support.
