Lieutenant Commander Lindsay Laurence Buswell, 94, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully in his home on January 27, 2018.

Born in Saugus, MA, on November 24, 1923, LCDR Buswell enlisted in the Navy full time in 1942 and completed a degree in engineering management at Roosevelt University and officer training at Tufts University. While serving in the Navy for 22 years, he earned a Commendation Ribbon w/ V Clasp, Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign w/ 6 stars, American Theater, WW II Victory, Navy Occupation (European Clasp), National Defense Service, Philippine Liberation w/ 2 stars, and a Combat Award Citation for an exemplary action saving a ship after a surprise attack in June 1945. Soon after victory in the Pacific, he met his wife, Ruth Rebecca (Rich) Buswell, while traveling by train. They married in 1946 and continued their perpetual travels and raised four children while on assignments as a naval officer. They kept homes in New Jersey, California, Massachusetts, Florida, Cuba, Rhode Island, Michigan, Virginia, New York, Illinois, and New Mexico. After retiring to Albuquerque, NM, in 1979, Lindsay and Ruth continued traveling throughout the US. Lindsay enjoyed cats, crosswords, and cookies and was an active member of many organizations, including the American Legion and volunteering for PBS at KNME television station.

Lindsay was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; and daughter, Linda Crittendon, of St. Peters, MO. He is survived by three children and their spouses, Barbara Williams of Punta Gorda, FL, Katie Baker of Punta Gorda, FL, and David Buswell of Racine, WI; 12 grandchildren; and many more in the generations beyond.

A Military Funeral Honors Service is planned at the Santa Fe National Veterans' Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM, on February 23, 2018, at 2:15 p.m.
