Lindia Sue Chadwick Summers passed away in her sleep in the early morning of September 17th, ending her 5 month battle with ovarian cancer.
Lindia was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 15, 1949 to Gilbert Lee (Bud) and Theresa (Pat) Chadwick. In the early 1960's she attended Grant Middle School, and it was there that she would first meet the boy who would later become the love of her life, Daniel Summers. It was not until a pool party at the Coronado Club some years later, where Daniel was a lifeguard, that their romance would take wings. Lindia attended Manzano High School, graduating in 1967, and shortly there-after married Daniel in the spring of 1968. They celebrated the birth of their daughter Danelle later that year, and that of their son Sean in the winter of 1972. Career opportunities prompted the couple to move the family to Torrance, California where they resided until 1984, during which time Lindia would begin her college education at California State University Long Beach. After their return to Albuquerque, she would work to complete her degree in University Studies at the University of New Mexico, graduating in the spring of 1989. She would go on to a fulfilling career as a Nuclear Weapons Systems Analyst for the U.S. Air Force. Upon her retirement in 2016 she was awarded the Exemplary Civilian Service medal for the work she had done with nuclear weapons, the Nuclear Weapons Complex and the U.S. Air Force. Lindia spent the rest of her life happily retired, and she and Daniel took every opportunity to enjoy this time together.
Lindia was a loving wife, mother, and friend whose gentle hand could guide without force, and whose patient demeanor could listen without judgement and advise without condescension. More than anything, she loved any opportunity to be with family and friends, and her selfless devotion to both was an inspiration to all. Though her life was not without significant challenges, any one of which might have been singularly definitive for a person of lesser character, she never complained. Lindia chose to enjoy the path that life laid out before her, and touched everyone she met along the way with her kind-ness, generosity, and love. We will miss her dearly, though we know we will meet again in time.
Lindia is survived by her husband Daniel Summers, sister A. Jean Chadwick, children Danelle Summers and Sean Summers, and grandchildren Jonathan and Sara Summers.
