Linda was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She went to Denison University in Ohio, where she majored in economics and graduated with high honors. Later, she was valedictorian of her MBA class. In addition to studying, Linda also met her husband Joe in an art appreciation class during college. The two of them were married in Pittsburgh during the summer of 1970.
Linda and Joe moved to Baltimore, Maryland and then to Albuquerque, NM. Their daughter Sharon Woodworth was born in 1979 in Albuquerque. Linda worked as an actuary, an economist, a teacher to pregnant and parenting teens at New Futures School, and a volunteer AARP tax preparer.
Linda had a gentle, loving personality coupled with a mind like a steel trap. She ran the family budget for decades and regularly balanced her checkbook to the penny.
Linda was very active in her church, holding a number of volunteer leadership positions as well as being active in Presbyterian Women and the American Association of University Women. Linda was part of a babysitting co-op when Sharon was young, and the mothers of that co-op still meet for lunch even though the ‘babies’ are now in their 40’s.
Linda is survived by her husband Joe; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and James; siblings Paul, Lee, and Vicki; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, and by many of the students she taught.
A Memorial Service for Linda will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church at 5301 Ponderosa Ave. NE in Albuquerque. (www.standrewabq.org). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice or to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (pda.pcusa.org).
Joe feels extraordinarily blessed to have had Linda as his “Super Wife” for 52 years. In addition to being an amazing wife and mother, Linda was an incredibly kind and loving person. She is missed.
