Linda Gloria Suazo, 82, of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 23 in her beloved home. Linda, whom many knew as Gloria, was born on October 1, 1942, to Jose Francisco and Carmen Valdez Suazo in Durango, CO. In 1954, the family moved to Albuquerque NM and laid down permanent roots in the home and community she loved.
The youngest of two children, Linda was the apple of her father’s eye as well as a cherished little sister to her big brother Sostenes with whom she shared lifetime bond that lasted until his passing in August of 2021.
After graduating from Sandia High School in 1961, Linda heeded her inner call to adventure and travel when she went to work for Northwest Airlines. With a cheerful demeanor that complemented her natural charm, she was always able to work well with everyone. She was a natural and thrived in many positions, leading to greater leadership opportunities within the airlines. Unfortunately, in the early 1990’s, she learned of her father’s declining health and moved back to Albuquerque to selflessly care for him and then later her mother.
It was during this time that Linda met Gary Canning. He was there to love and support her through the many challenges of caregiving, and together they built and shared a life for over three decades.
Linda is survived by her life partner Gary, beloved nephews Scott and Douglas, Scott’s wife Barbara and sons (Philadelphia) and Douglas’s wife Celeste (Las Vegas), along with countless Cousins and Friends. Though we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Linda was a strong woman of faith dedicated to the church and is now at peace, reunited in Heaven with those who passed before her.
For the loved ones she has left behind, she leaves them to carry on her legacy of faith, selflessness, compassion, love and forgiveness. Linda was the rare person who touched countless lives with her warmth, kind heart and generous spirit. A beautiful smile with a beautiful soul to match.
