Lillie Van Ausdall

May 20, 1932 — March 12, 2021

Lillie May Van Ausdall, 88 went home to be with the Lord Friday, March 12, 2021.

She was born Friday, May 20, 1932 in Allison, TX. to Roy F. and Naoma Hunt. She had two sisters and three brothers, and she was the second youngest. The family moved to Greer County, OK in 1941 where her father farmed the land her Grandfather homesteaded. They then moved to Mangum, OK in 1945.
She met and married Pete VanAusdall in 1949 at the age of 16, eloping to Texas as 16 was of legal age there.

Their first child Donna was born in 1952 in Midland TX. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1955 where Lillie worked briefly as a bank teller and a telephone operator which she really enjoyed.

The family moved back to Midland, TX in 1957. Pete had joined a bowling league while Lillie was pregnant with their second child, Beth, Lillie wanted to bowl so badly. Pete told her to wait until after the baby was born and he would stay home and watch the baby while she bowled. She was hooked and bowled between three to sometimes five days a week, for 50 plus years into her late 70's.
In 1963, the family moved to Albuquerque. Pete started his own tile business in 1968 and Lillie took care of the office duties and worked around her bowling schedule of course!

She became a Grandma for the first time in 1974, having a total of three grandsons and one granddaughter. Adding nine great grandchildren over the years and loving each one of them with all her heart.

She worked very hard to earn her GED in the late 70's or early 80's. Beth had a lot of fun working with Lillie and helping her study for it. This was a very proud moment for her.

In 1997, her first great grandson Sean was born. Three short months later, Pete passed away after 48 years of marriage. She was heartbroken. Sean helped keep her busy and fill the void of the loneliness she felt. Lillie moved to Phoenix in 2016 to be closer to Donna. She was a strong woman and survived 23 years before moving to her heavenly home on March 12, 2021, which she now shares with Pete, Donna, and many friends and loved ones who have gone before her.
Mom, Grandma, Mimi, we love you, we miss you, and we will see you again. Because of your faith in God and by sharing that faith with your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, we will all be together again someday.
Lillie is survived by daughter Beth (Brian); grandchildren Darin (Shannon), Daphne (Aaron), Danny (April), Curtis (Lorie); great grandchildren Sean (Callie), Jack, Joshua, Hank, Toby, Lily, Will, Ashlyn, Abygail; as well as her brother Hurshell, sister Irene. Lillie is preceded in death by her husband Pete; daughter Donna; parents Roy and Naoma; brothers J.C. and Ray, and sister Oleta.

Lillie will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Memorial service will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sandia Baptist Church 9429 Constitution Ave NE
