WALSH, LILLIAN C. Lillian (Lil) Walsh, 89, passed away on August 15, 2013 at her home surrounded by family from complications related to Congestive Heart Failure. Lil was born August 21, 1923 in Chicago IL, the daughter of Thomas & Philomena Whiteford. She was a 1940 graduate of Visitation High School in Chicago, IL. Lil married Raymond Walsh on July 1, 1944 in Chicago, IL and they were married for 64 years. Lil and Ray spent the early years of their marriage raising 8 children in Oak Lawn, Ill. During that time she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society at church and worked part time at the Stork Shop in Evergreen Park, IL. The family relocated in 1966 for Ray's job to Shreveport, LA and within 6 months to Cincinnati, OH. In 1967 their oldest son, Jim died in an accident while attending college in Albuquerque. After his death, the family moved to Albuquerque in 1968. After arriving here, Lil worked at a family business for 4 years. In 1973 she began working at Coronado Mall for Rhodes then Liberty House and eventually Mervyns where she retired in 1989. She enjoyed working as a retail sales person and interacting with the people she met there. After retirement, she cared for her mother, who was residing with her in Albuquerque, until her death near the age of 100 in 1999. Lil and Ray were avid walkers at the Coronado Mall as members of Sole Mates, until his health declined. She cared for Ray after his diagnosis of Alzheimer's until his death in 2008. We will all miss the warm smile and laughter that Mom greeted you with when you entered her home. She treated everyone like family and made friends easily wherever she went. Survivors include her children, Sharon Walsh & daughter, Callie of Albuquerque, Mary Marr & husband, Joe of Blackhawk, CO, Eileen Moore & husband, Barnes of Freehold, NJ, Liz Harper of Albuquerque, Tom Walsh & wife, Valerie of Overland Park, KS, Pat Walsh & wife, Tina of Bartlesville, OK and Tim Walsh of Albuquerque. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Kay Farrell & husband, Bob of Mobile, AL, and their children. Lil was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas & Philomena Whiteford; her husband, Raymond; her son, James; and her grandson, Matthew Walsh. A Service will be held at the Mount Calvary Cemetery Chapel, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11a.m. with Ennichement to follow. A Memorial Service to honor her will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Copper Pointe Church, 10500 Copper Ave. NE, Albuquerque, with a reception to follow. Prov 31:30: Charm can be deceiving, and beauty fades away, but a woman who honors the Lord deserves to be praised.
