Lillian M (Martinez) Nagle

d. April 12, 2018

Lillian Nagle, 70. Our beloved Wife and Mother passed away on April 12, 2018 of complications from pancreatic cancer. Lillian is survived by her husband, Ray E. Nagle II of Albuquerque, a son, Andrew of Albuquerque, and a daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Rich Collins, of Austin, TX.

Three words that describe Lillian’s life are family, friends, and faith.

Lillian was born in Taos, NM on February 2, 1948, the third of five children born to Abad and Josephine Martinez. She attended Taos Catholic School, was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and was active in 4H. Lillian attended classes in Elementary Education at New Mexico State University from 1966 through 1970 but left her studies when she married Ray in June of 1970.

Lillian enjoyed being the wife of an Air Force officer and having the opportunity to live in various places across the country. She particularly enjoyed living in Charleston, SC.

From the time she was a little girl, Lillian wanted to be a mother. While not necessary, she helped raise her youngest sister. She wanted to have a large family, but health reasons prevented her from having more than two children. Andy was born in Sacramento, CA in 1972, and Felicia was born in Dayton, OH in 1975.

Her care for her two children began in the womb forgoing any and all medications so as not to harm her babies. She was a stay-at-home mother while Andy and Felicia were babies and toddlers. When both children began school, she volunteered to work at their school to be near them and be home with them at the end of their school day and during summers. She always planned summer activities each year to make their lives interesting, fun, and educational.

As her children grew older, Lillian took on full-time employment with Albuquerque Public Schools as an Educational Assistant in Special Education and worked at various elementary and middle schools throughout the city. She spent the last ten years of her career at Sandia Base Elementary School and retired in 2004.

Lillian’s loving and caring nature gained her many friends throughout her life, especially at her Albuquerque parish, Prince of Peace.

Lillian was active in many ministries that included ACTS retreats, casserole ministries, Eucharistic minister, and a Women’s Faith Sharing group she started affectionately called, “Lillian’s Ladies”. She loved her Catholic faith.

Services will begin on Tuesday, April 17, 2018  at 7:00 P.M, with a praying of the holy Rosary at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave., NE, Albuquerque. On Wednesday  April 18, 2018 at 9:00 A.M, a funeral mass will be held at Prince of Peace, followed by a reception in the church community room. Interment will be on Thursday, May 19, 2018 at 12:45 P.M. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
