Lila "Billie" Hatcher, 92, was called to her eternal resting place on August 16, 2021. On January 2, 1929, she entered this world in Coleman, TX, born to Ainsley and Robbie Segrest. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John "Bill" Hatcher; her parents; and three sons, Gary, Johnny, and Timothy. Billie moved with her family to Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1947. During her time there, she met Bill and fell in love. They agreed to wait until Billie graduated, and the two joined on June 21, 1947. Billie dedicated much of her early married life to raising her boys, three of which passed away at young ages. It brings her family much joy to think that she will now be reunited with them. Eventually, Billie became a school cafeteria manager. Soon working her way up to become an Albuquerque Public Schools Food Service supervisor and retiring after 20+ years of service.
Billie is remembered as being warm and caring with an incredible sense of humor. Her laugh was infectious, and she was making us laugh until her last day. Billie loved traveling, cooking, reading, and crocheting. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She touched so many lives throughout her years and will be missed by all!
