Leslie Jane O'Neal

Leslie O’Neal, age 97, born August 3, 1924, and passed away on January 22, 2022.

The youngest of four girls, she was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois to Leslie and Nora Sutton. She is preceded in death by her three sisters, Evelyn, Noretta and Dorles. In 1944 she married Vernon (Jack) O’Neal, and the two spent 51 years together before he passed in 1995.

She is survived by a son, Larry and wife Katherine; daughter, Judith L. Baxter; grandsons, Jeremy (Ashley) and Aaron Sanders, Bill and Kevin (Emily) O'Neal and the granddaughter of her heart, Coral Cordova. She had seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was a devoted member of St Paul's United Methodist Church for over 60 years and was their first paid secretary in 1963 for 2 years. She belonged to UMW, Jolly Elders, Ruth Circle, Church Women United and volunteered as a greeter on Sunday mornings. She was also an Honored Lady of Ballut Abyad Shrine.

A private family service will be held to celebrate a life well lived.
